What is SRN Number in Aadhar card – SSUP

SRN or Service Request Number is a 14-digit number that is allotted to you when you do your Aadhaar correction online. It serves as a future reference after your edit.

There are two types of numbers that are Unique Request Number or Service Request Number. The Unique Request Number is also a 14-digit number allotted to you if you get your correction done at an Enrolment Centre instead.

However, the Service Request Number is given to you if you edit your details online on your own. The website to do the same is as follows: https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update

The steps to follow are as follows:

  • Log in with your Aadhaar or Virtual ID
  • Request for the Address update online
  • Enter the required proof documents
  • Find the nearest Enrolment centre to collect your new Aadhaar card

It is seen that one can easily edit out any mistakes present in their Aadhaar details. However, for other details, they need to visit the nearest Enrolment Centre. 

Login to the Self Service Update Portal official website of UIDAI with the help of your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID. Enter the security key in the space provided as an authentication measure.

After logging in, you will be given the choice to update your Address in two distinct ways such as:

  • With PIN CODE
  • Without PIN CODE

Selecting the required way to edit, proceed ahead to upload the supporting proof documents to the server for re-verification. The documents that can help for the same are as follows:

  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID
  • Driving License
  • Passport
  • Landline Bill
  • Electricity Bill
  • LPG Bill etc

If you finished all the steps correctly, your case will be taken into consideration and you will be able to check on the progress with the help of a new number allotted to you now.

This 14-digit number is what known as the SRN or Service Request Number. It acts as an Acknowledgement Number for future reference as mentioned above.

URN Number Status Check

There is a way to check for the progress of your Online Aadhaar Card update request. You simply need your SRN or Service Request Number for that to proceed.

As you can see in the image, there are two things that you need to enter before proceeding ahead:

  • Aadhaar Number

Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and your 14-digit URN or SRN. People who have corrected their details at the Enrolment Centres need to enter their URN or Unique Request Number.

However, people who have edited their address online need to enter their SRN at the respective place. Finally, enter the 4-digit text verification code at the end.

You will get to know about the status of your correction application on the next page. If the status is kept pending for a very long time, it means you have entered wrong details etc.

However, you can get it checked at the nearest Enrolment Centre whether you were wrong or not. Usually, the update takes a maximum of 2 weeks to get processed.

If nothing works out, then carry out your correction process at the Centre itself. It won’t take much time and doesn’t cost much.
