The documents required are needed for the applicant in two cases such as during enrolling for new Aadhar number or during Updation of the Information and details in Aadhar card.

The documents that is required for the applying the UIDAI number is classified into four categories which varies from the Date of Birth(DOB) to Relationship.

These are the list of documents that were divided by UIDAI.

  • Proof Of Identity(PoI)
  • Proof of Relationship(PoR)
  • Proof Of Address(PoA)
  • Proof of Date of Birth(DoB)

The categories of the proof of documents required for Aadhaar Card are listed and explained below one-by-one with maximum details incorporated in it.

Aadhar Proof of Identity(PoI) Documents

The Identity proof documents are required for Aadhaar Card to prove the candidate or any individual as an Indian Citizen. These documents are issued by the different Government bodies.

  • Passport.
  • PAN Card.
  • Ration/ PDS Photo Card.
  • Voter ID.
  • Driving License.
  • Government Photo ID Cards/ service photo identity card issued by PSU.

The above are the mandatory documents, most of the people do have at least one. In case if not, please do check the list of required documents for POI.

  • NREGS Job Card.
  • Photo ID issued by Recognized Educational Institution.
  • Arms License.
  • Photo Bank ATM Card.
  • Photo Credit Card.
  • Pensioner Photo Card.
  • Freedom Fighter Photo Card.
  • Kissan Photo Passbook.
  • CGHS / ECHS Photo Card.
  • Address Card having Name and Photo issued by Department of Posts.
  • Certificate of Identify having photo issued by Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on letterhead.
  • Disability ID Card/handicapped medical certificate issued by the respective State/UT Governments/Administrations.

The above-listed documents can be used as the Identity Proof documents for Aadhar Card. The Name of the particular individual is recorded in the Aadhar card as per mentioned in Identity list

Proof of Relationship(PoR)

These documents have the relationship details of a member with the head of the family. The following documents required can be used as the Proof of Relationship documents.

  • PDS Card.
  • MNREGA Job Card.
  • CGHS/State Government/ECHS/ESIC Medical card.
  • Pension Card.
  • Army Canteen Card.
  • Passport.
  • Birth Certificate issued by Registrar of Birth, Municipal.
  • Corporation and other notified local government bodies like Taluk, Tehsil etc.
  • Any other Central/State government issued family entitlement document.
  • Marriage Certificate Issued by the Government.

Any certificate from the above list can be supported as a Proof documents for Relationship details.

Address(PoA) – Documents

The Address proof documents for aadhaar are needed to prove that the applicants are residing at the mentioned address. As the Aadhaar card is issued to the citizens of India only, these certificates are necessary during applying for Aadhar card.

  • Passport.
  • Bank Statement/ Passbook.
  • Post Office Account Statement/Passbook.
  • Ration Card.
  • Voter ID.
  • Driving License.
  • Government Photo ID cards/ service photo identity card issued by PSU.

  • Electricity Bill (not older than 3 months).
  • Water bill (not older than 3 months).
  • Telephone Landline Bill (not older than 3 months).
  • Property Tax Receipt (not older than 1 year).
  • Credit Card Statement (not older than 3 months).
  • Insurance Policy.
  • Signed Letter having Photo from Bank on letterhead.
  • Signed Letter having Photo issued by registered Company on letterhead.
  • Signed Letter having Photo issued by Recognized Educational Institutions on letterhead.
  • NREGS Job Card.
  • Arms License.
  • Pensioner Card.
  • Freedom Fighter Card.
  • Kissan Passbook.
  • CGHS / ECHS Card.

The address mentioned in the documents is served as the default address of the candidates.

A mistake in the address details or if the candidate failed to update the recent address details it results in sending the Aadhar card to that address.

Date Of Birth(DoB) – Required Documents

As the Aadhar card is also served as proof for Date of birth the original date of birth should be submitted as a document.

  • Birth Certificate.
  • SSLC Book/Certificate.
  • Passport.
  • Certificate of Date of Birth issued by Group A Gazetted Officer on letterhead.
  • PAN Card.
  • Marksheet issued by any Government Board or University.
  • Government Photo Id Card / Photo identity card issued by PSU containing DoB.
  • Central/State Pension Payment Order Central Government Health Service Scheme Photo Card or Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Photocard.

From the above-mentioned list under each category, one proof document with required data is enough.

Proof Documents for Child

The documents that are required for a child below 5 years are the following.

  • Date of Birth Certificate or any date of Birth proof.
  • Identity and Address Proof.
  • Aadhar card of any of his/her parents.

For UIDAI Processing, there will be no Bio-Metrics are recorded into the UIDAI data of the child but their facial photographs and demographic details linked with UIDAI of their parents are used.

The Proof of documents required of their parents are also to be submitted along with their Aadhaar card as they will be used for the verification of the Child’s Aadhar application form.

The submitting docs should be recognized by any government body or should be recorder in any government sector as validated.

Any fake documents submitted as the proof documents instead of the above mentioned original documents required can lead to the application rejection by the UIDAI Verifying authorities.

After submission of the required details, authorities will refer all your docs and verifies before they get to provide the candidate with an Aadhaar number and Aadhar card.
